The main aim of the folk club is to raise the profile of the excellent folk music scene in and around Bath with performances from the well loved, established acts and the new 'up and coming' . Exciting national and international artists will also feature regularly.
The main club evening will be held once monthly.These will usually be held on a Friday, but not necessarily the same Friday, as our bookings are subject to the availability of the Bands.
We will also be running a singing group every month which will be hosted by Nancy Kerr, and supported by Louise Baxter Jennifer Crook and Sue Hart. They are all singers with a wealth of experience behind them and will using this night to share songs and traditions and to get everybody singing together. These will be at the Widcombe Social Club on the third Wednesday of the month. It will cost £3 for singers and £4 for listeners.
The venue, Widcombe Social Club, is situated in the heart of Bath, which is easily accessible by road and just a few minutes walk away from the train and bus stations. It's a spacious, clean and friendly venue providing reasonably priced drinks and hot snacks on the night.
Doors open at 7.30pm with an informal session to which all are welcome to join. We ask that players play with respect and care for other peoples music (Standard session etiquette applies).
This runs for approximately half an hour .
After the session at 8.00pm there will be a limited number of floor spots where clubgoers will invited to perform on the stage.
If you wish to take a floorspot, please book at the ticket desk on arrival, letting us know your technical requirements when you sign in (which will save valuable time later). We hold a 'first come, first served' policy.There is only a 25 minute window for floorspots so it might not always be possible to accommodate everyone.
If you are travelling a long distance to attend the club and wish to book a floorspot and think it might be difficult to get there early, then get in touch and we'll see what we can do to fit you in. Again, this is subject to space and time available.
